Healthy Foods for the Community

Lincoln County Food Initiative

OUR PARTNERS

It all started with Jane Gravel at Main Street Grocery. She started a meal program out of her store during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering food and meals to those that are home bound or immune-compromised. As the need to provide meals and essential food items to people that are home bound grew, several organizations banded together to grow the program.

The Lincoln County Food Initiative (LCFI) has partners across the restaurant, education, charity, government, and public health sectors. This collaboration helps us triage resources across the county. Our first priority at LCFI is food assistance, but we have been able to help people with other needs by connecting them to resources for things like pet food or heating assistance. We can communicate what is happening in their own town because we collaborate with multiple organizations. If you are interested in partnering with us, please e-mail volunteer.lcfi@gmail.com

WHAT WE DO

Connect people to resources - We have a hotline (207-350-0536) for people seeking food assistance. Leave a voicemail with your information, and one of our navigators will call back and discuss resources available in your town.

Food Deliveries - Kieve-Wavus Education prepares, packages, and delivers meals to home bound adults and families across Lincoln County two times a week.

Support food pantries - Every Tuesday, the CLC YMCA launches a Fill the Bus food drive at Main Street Grocery. Each week, the food supports a different food pantry in Lincoln County.

Create Volunteer Opportunities - We are maintaining a database of volunteers, and providing safe, at home or limited contact opportunities for people to volunteer.
