Kate Marone - Program Manager

director@healthylincolncounty.org

Kate Marone is the director for Healthy Lincoln County (HLC), and is the liaison to the towns and community organizations in Lincoln County. She is working with the HLC Advisory Board to develop our collaborative relationships, and working with our staff to achieve our public health goals to help communities in Lincoln County achieve healthier living.

Kate has spent the last three years in Maine working on a project with the state public health agency. Prior to that, she spent most of her career working in county public health agencies in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and in north central Montana. She has an undergraduate degree in social work, a graduate certificate in public health, and a master's degree in health and risk communication.

Growing up in a military family fostered Kate's love of travel. However, she's always been drawn to rural communities and is happy to be settled on the midcoast of Maine. When she's not working for a healthier Lincoln County, Kate can be found exploring the lakes and peninsulas, cooking, hiking, or gardening. She looks forward to the winter so she can go snowshoeing, and catch up on her reading and crochet.

Lara Cogar - Nutrition Education Coordinator

nutrition@healthylincolncounty.org

Lara Cogar is a health educator who brings SNAP-Ed nutrition education to the community. She works with schools, Head Starts, recreational organizations, churches, and housing and community agencies to bring food tastings and cooking and shopping classes to youth and adults, helping folks on a budget learn to live well. Her goal is to encourage wholesome nutrition, healthy activity and a can-do spirit for a healthy, vibrant life.

A graduate of West Virginia University, Lara served most of her career on the wellness team at her local community hospital in Maryland. She coordinated programs on nutrition and obesity prevention, women and family health, tobacco, heart disease and cancer prevention, and supervised a woman's wellness center and their Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. While there, she established an annual women's health conference and wrote the Tobacco Road Show, an experiential 7th grade science lesson.

Lara lives on the Pemaquid Peninsula with her family. She is grateful for her growing-up summers in a YMCA camp in the mountains, where she learned a wellness lifestyle young. When not out in the community, she can often be found on trail or on the water.
